iPhone, More Than Just A Phone

If you have been thinking "where can I purchase an iPhone?", then you have probably had the impression that it first and foremost was a mobile phone that you were going to buy. Then you should think again. The iPhone is not just a phone, it is a small computer and media player you can also make calls with.

There is an ongoing discussion among mobile enthusiasts, that circles around what the iPhone can and can not be as mobile phone, compared to competing models from HTC, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, BlackBerry and others.

Apple has developed this hand held computer platform so that it is so user friendly that the user becomes very eager to exploit all the possibilities it has to offer, and there are many of them. If you have seen just parts of what the mobile and computing industry has to offer of so-called smart phones, PAD's and Pocket PCs, you know that there is no real guarantee that they really are that smart. And no one likes to own a smart phone that is anything but smart.

On an iPhone you can read ebooks, make free calls with Skype, play the electric guitar, car racing games or poker, check the TV Guide, measure if the book shelf you just put up is perfectly leveled, update your Twitter account, check your mail and surf the web, just to mention a few of the features. I addition, there are numerous free add-ons available that make it possible for you to personalize your iPhone based on your own preferences, a feature that is not very typical on the regular mobile phone.

Since Apple decided to open the platform for third party developers, a large number of the leading software producers have literary thrown themselves into the race to be the first to come up with the newest, coolest and most popular iPhone applications. Apple has decided to focus upon software development and the user interface, to the enjoyment of existing and coming iPhone owners.

By all means, there are several good alternatives to the iPhone, and more of them may be better when it comes to hardware and operating system, but when it comes to the user interface and developer community the iPhone is simply superior.
